The NexGen Youth Arts Conference (nexgenartsfestival.org) provides an educational forum for students with interests in traditional and non-traditional arts-based career pathways and development. The multi-track conference for aspiring visual, performing, and technology arts students features a visual art exhibition, displaying some of the finest up and coming youth talent to be seen, performances, breakout sessions and workshops on fine and performing arts, multimedia technology, and other arts-based career paths led by some of the most dynamic professionals in their respective fields.
Friday is Student Day. Students representing many different schools from across the Commonwealth will be networking with their peers and participating in a series of introductory multi-disciplinary classes, learning, and having fun!
Some of the professionals that will be leading workshops include Grammy award nominee jazz musician Mindi Abair, humanitarian vocalist Yewande Austin, CEO of O3 World in Philadelphia, Mike Gadsby, and alumni from the Joan Mitchell Foundation in New York.
The keynote speaker during Friday’s luncheon will be world- renowned dancer Aubrey Lynch, formerly a principal dancer with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Deja Vu Dance Theater, choreographer with The Lion King, founder and Artistic Director of Aubrey Lynch Extra Essential Arts AL-EEArts in New York.
Saturday will be a fast paced day of fun and excitement with mulitple sessions, live performers, dance classes and much, much more. Everything from multimedia design to film-making, photography, theater, singing...the list goes on. Come and see the art of fashion/hair/make-up design with a live photo-shoot.
To wrap it all up on Saturday, the Closing Performance Gala will bring together much of what is taught and learned during the NexGen Youth Arts Conference. Performance, artwork, digital design...it promises to be an event that you won't want to miss!
